THE STUD BOOKS AND THE
CROSSBRED REGISTER.

The Lusitano Horse Association of Australasia exists to promote the Lusitano horse in Australia and New Zealand. The Association is affliliated through protocol to the parent body in Portugal, the A.P.S.L , with which it arranges the registration of Purebred Lusitanos.

The LUSITANO PUREBRED STUDBOOK is open to Lusitanos with both parents registered in Portugal or in the Brazilian association [A.B.P.S.L]. Without papers from either of these Associations, no horse can be recognised internationally as a fully registered Lusitano. DNA and microchipping are required.

The IBERIAN PUREBRED STUDBOOK is open to horses holding 50% Pure Lusitano 50% Pure Spanish blood, and to their descendants mated to either pure Spanish or pure Lusitano stock. DNA and microchipping are required.

The LUSITANO CROSSBRED REGISTER is open to horses with one Lusitano parent. There is no grading up. Microchipping is required.
